A throwback Rioja that sports tobacco, mulch and some true Old-World aromas that make you question the wine’s health. But airing breathes life and tilts it toward dried cherries. Finally you discover core power hammered home by hard tannins, sharp acidity and an odd nuttiness. Not a wine for all tastes.
