A delicious, complex and young wine, to judge from the tannins. Flavors of tobacco, sage and blackberries are very dry, and the acidity is fine, but then there are those stubborn tannins. Needs age, but should soften by 2006. If you must drink it before then, do it with big, rich, fatty foods. A 60-40 blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. —S.H.
