Vitus, made from a resurrected recipe that is now being brewed year round, is a full-bodied and intensely flavored weizenbock that offers layer upon layer of aromas and flavors. A cloudy golden color in the glass, it starts off with an incredible head that lingers and leaves gorgeous lacing behind with each sip. Scents of banana, green tropical fruit, lemon and clove fill the bouquet and continue on to the palate alongside additional flavors of sweet spice, vanilla bean, bread dough and pear flesh. Balanced and harmonious, with a long and spicy finish. Lauren Buzzeo

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
