There’s plenty of richness in this wine. It’s filled with apricots, figs, melons and nectarines, and is dry, with palate-stimulating acids.

From Mountain View, a good producer of Amador Zins, a sort of junior version of their single-vineyard wine. It’s light in color and body, and dry, with cherry-berry flavors and a good grip of tannins and acids. Good value.

A bit of pumpkin and squash on the early nose, with apple coming later. Comes across with orange and honey on the palate, and there’s soft melon on the finish. Sort of sweet but it works.

Pretty down-the-line as value-priced Chards go: Has buttery, creamy aromas, and peach, apple and oak flavors. No surprises here; good and correct.

Superripe and oaky, with tropical fruit, vanilla and buttered toast flavors, this wine leaves little to the imagination. It’s sweet on the finish, but fortunately has good acids.

Aromas of smoke, menthol and cedar don’t prepare you for the wealth of spicy berry fruit and vanilla flavors this wine contains. With a lively mouthfeel, this wine is a winner at this price. Imported by Cape Wine Ventures.

Dark red at the rim with cigar-box aromas, this wine packs plenty of fruit for the buck. Cassis, plum and raspberry all vie for attention in the mouth; while it’s a bit sweet, the wine has plenty of tannin and acidity to back it up. Finishes with chocolate notes. Imported by Cape Wine Ventures.

White fruit aromas waft from the glass like perfume. This wine has a dusty, creamy feel and melon flavors. Quite a bargain at this price. Imported by Cape Wine Ventures.
