Leonetti Cellar 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  • Editors' Choice
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $85
Dense, aromatic, layered and rich, this wine explodes from the glass with scents and flavors of concentrated berries, cassis, black cherry, and more. The vines have reached a mature stage that amplifies the fruit and keeps the generous barrel flavors in perfect balance. The barrel notes roll on in a chorus of toasty accents, and the finish is as good in the last…  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)

Domaine Dujac 2009 Pinot Noir (Bonnes-Mares)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $344
Firm, but so generous and elegant. There is an ethereal perfumed character, along with mineral and earth notes. The tannins are integrating well in this powerful, impressive, ageworthy wine.  — R.V.  (9/1/2011)

Rasa Vineyards 2008 Creative Impulse DuBrul Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Yakima Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $95
A fine expression of the special strengths of the DuBrul vineyard. The fruit is pure and juicy, a riot of blueberry, blackberry and cassis. There is a focused thread of fresh herb and as the nose expands the baking spices kick in beautifully. A wine to study and explore; it can continue to evolve for hours, if not days.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)

Cantina Bartolo Mascarello 2007 Nebbiolo (Barolo)

  • Cellar Selection
Mascarello presents an outstanding 2007 base Barolo (with fruit sourced from the Barolo and La Morra zones) that is packed extra tight with generosity, concentration and rich chocolate, cherry and leather aromas. The long finish is soft and velvety, but the tannins and acidity guarantee a long future ahead.  — M.L.  (9/1/2011)

Domaine Jacques Prieur 2009 Musigny Pinot Noir (Musigny)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $510
A sumptuous wine, rich in bright red fruits, with a structure and depth of flavor to match. The wine is gorgeously ripe, opening its heart quickly. Acidity, bitter chocolate and dark cherries go with the tannic core to promise long aging.  — R.V.  (9/1/2011)

This beautifully perfumed wine shows structure, dark tannins as well as great charm. The acidity is layered with black fruits and dry tannins. Age for 7–8 years or more.  — R.V.  (9/1/2011)

Domaine Dujac 2009 Clos de la Roche Pinot Noir (Clos de la Roche)

  1. $304
Very opulent, very rich, this is a complex, structured wine packed with fruit and brooding tannins. It is already rich, and will develop into a beautifully intense, concentrated and generous wine.  — R.V.  (9/1/2011)

Leonetti Cellar 2008 Reserve Red (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $135
In comparison with the 2008 Cabernet, this is the bigger wine, less sleek, more chewy. As it opens in the glass, the aromas display incense scents, and there is assertive, blocky, chewy fruit––especially black cherry. The tannins are also bigger, blockier, more substantial than the Cabernet. With hours of breathing time, exotic spices (saffron and more) emerge.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)
