32 Winds 2007 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $48
Dry and elegant, with a scour of tannins, this Pinot Noir wants a rich steak or chop to balance out its astringency and acids. At nearly four years of age, it’s still fresh, with a central core of cherries, raspberries and orange zest. Purists will like the lightish color and modest alcohol.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

32 Winds 2008 Monument Tree Vineyard Chardonnay (Anderson Valley)

  1. $39
Lots of tangy acidity in this Chard, and tannins too. It has a grainy, stubborn mouthfeel. Shows plenty of pineapple, orange, apricot and lime flavors, with sweet oak essence, but cant quite overcome that resistant tug. Drink now.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

32 Winds 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
Still tough in tannins at nearly four years, with palate-numbing astringency. Under all that are blackberry, cherry, currant and cedar flavors that finish long, dry and spicy. Lots of class, but those tannins may never age out.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)
