Adler Fels 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $15
Fermented in stainless steel, this young white retains the freshness and fruity vitality of the high-quality grapes from its home vineyard. Acidity really is the key, highlighting the citrus, fig, melon and vanilla flavors that shine so brightly. This is really a wonderfully drinkable, Sancerre-like Sauvignon Blanc.  — S.H.  (11/15/2007)

Adler Fels 1998 Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley)

A very nice wine due to its good varietal character and clean, refreshing quality. Virtually oakless, its citrus, hay, and melon notes shine through. It's dry and tart enough for oysters or clams, and almost anything with goat cheese.  — S.H.  (11/15/2000)

Adler Fels 2006 Gewürztraminer (Russian River Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
I wish this Gewürz had more intensity to the fruit, because even at this everyday price, it’s a little watery on the finish. The dry flavors, framed by crisp acids, suggest gingersnap cookies, figs, cinnamon-spiced apple sauce and vanilla. One wonders if limiting yields would result in a better wine, which could be sold at a higher price.  — S.H.  (11/15/2007)
