Initial aromas are like a maple-covered doughnut meeting raspberry jam, while the palate deals straight-ahead berry flavors with little to nothing in the way of accents. It's a touch starchy and tannic, but overall it's perfectly good if measured conservatively.

Leather and cassis aromas greet you, but airing turns them toward leafy and green. Flavors of cherry, raspberry and red currants are also a touch lean and green, but for the most part the wine shows verve and a good mouthfeel even if the flavors aren’t perfect.
