Anna Maria Abbona 2004 Cado Red (Langhe)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
This beautiful blend of Barbera and Dolcetto shows characteristics of both native grapes (although the Barbera component is an overwhelming 90%). There are mature fruit aromas here with cherry, blackberry and raspberry but there’s also a touch of spice cake and leather. From the 2004 vintage, the wine shows a soft and sophisticated side.  — M.L.  (12/1/2010)

Anna Maria Abbona 2007 Dolcetto (Langhe)

  1. $15
This Dolcetto offers a thick nose rich with warm tones of leather, pipe tobacco, dark chocolate and mature blueberry. There’s a tiny element of horse or wet animal but it doesn’t distract too badly from the overall picture.  — M.L.  (4/1/2010)
