Anomaly 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (St. Helena)

  1. $85
Awesomely ripe and delicious Cabernet, dazzling with blackberry and cherry pie filling, cassis, anise, dark chocolate, sweet vanilla, toast, spice and even an earthy note of green olives. The tannins are soft, sweet and complex. Really good and well-structured, one of the best St. Helena Cabs of the vintage. Drink now–2014.  — S.H.  (9/1/2011)

Anomaly 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (St. Helena)

  1. $75
Bright and forward in red and black cherry, plum and new oak aromas, this lush Bordeaux blend comes from two small vineyards in St. Helena. It has a smooth, silky texture, very seductive and charming. Luscious now, but has the structural integrity to age through 2012.  — S.H.  (4/1/2008)

Anomaly 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (St. Helena)

  1. $85
Ripe, jammy fruit marks this polished young Cabernet. It’s rich in cherries and red licorice, with a sweet liqueur potency and an umami intensity suggesting salty smoked meats. The tannins are considerable in this muscular wine, which suggests aging for five or six years.  — S.H.  (9/1/2011)

Anomaly 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (St. Helena)

  1. $85
This big, strong Cabernet insists on pushing its blackberry, currant, plum and cocoa flavors across the palate. It’s not subtle, and doesn’t apologize for it. The grapes are from various vineyards in St. Helena, a warmer part of Napa Valley, and you can taste the incredible ripeness as well as the softness of tannins and acids that make drinking it so pretty now.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Pretty tannic now, but very well-structured, with a minerally exoskeleton framing dramatic black currant, cassis and cedar flavors. Needs time. 2010–2015.  — S.H.  (4/1/2009)

Anomaly 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
Classic Cabernet character from this St. Helena wine, which contains small amounts of Cab Franc and Petite Verdot. Opens with a splashy burst of black currants, spicy cherry liqueur, charry cedar and new oak and turns elegant and complex in the mouth. Polished, delicate structure, with a round, supple feel. Finishes dry and long. Drink now–2015.  — S.H.  (4/1/2007)
