Antis 2003 Malbec (Mendoza)

Very solid, with full ripeness and smooth cherry and raspberry aromas. The mouth is defined and dense, with clean berry flavors and just the right touch of oak. Feels round and to scale in the mouth, with a smooth finish that shows a touch of chocolate. Tasty and easy. Imported by William Harrison.  — M.S.  (4/1/2006)

Antis 2003 Cuvee Celebration Reserve Red (Mendoza)

  1. $24
Here’s a good but rugged blend of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet that starts out with smoked meat, rubber and pure red-fruit aromas. The feel may seem a touch hard if sipped alone, but with food it will sing a pretty tune. On the finish it’s burly and tannic, but it’s healthy as can be and should age nicely for several years. Antis 2004 Reserve Malbec (Mendoza)

Purple and large, and that makes it easy to peg as young. With so much color and extract the palate can only be big, and it’s holding rich, almost syrupy blackberry flavors that are mountainous but unrefined. Imported by William Harrison Imports.  — M.S.  (8/1/2006)

Cherry aromas are brought down a notch by grassy notes that signal questionable ripeness, while the palate runs more earthy and muddled than bright and fruity. Still, along the way you get chocolate and plum flavors along with hard, jagged tannins.  — M.S.  (2/1/2007)

Less than ripe on the nose, with hay and green notes. Yet the palate is sweet and sugary. Hence the front end and back end are at odds with each other.  — M.S.  (8/1/2006)
