This one is all about the seductive and sexy side of Pinot. The ample bouquet is pure elegance, with an atypically rich cherry and chocolate character. The luscious mouthfeel supports the plummy flavor, which is accented by clove, lavender and anise. For a big and chewy wine, there’s structure, but overall it’s a friendly softy. Drink now or over the next few years.
Argyle has done an excellent job with this late-released ’02; it’s firm and toasty, cedar-scented under tart, cherry/berry fruit. Layered with earth and wood streaks, and some lightly chocolaty tannins to finish up strong.
The most successful 2006 Pinot in Argyle’s lineup, this wine bursts with cherries, dusty caramel and seductive aromas of rose petals, scattered across the palate. It’s full-flavored yet retains its Pinot character, with poise and tension into the sweet, fruity finish.
A thrilling success, with beautifully developed aromas of vanilla and buttered toast. Gorgeous mousse, and perisistent, nutty, complex flavors that show hints of candied tropical fruits and sweet butterscotch. Maybe the best Argyle ever.
A lovely follow-up to the outstanding ’94, this well-integrated, perfectly aged brut is still crisp and showing hints of fresh apple, along with beeswax, citrus and gooseberry. It shows off with a gorgeous mousse, and persistent fresh flavors that linger without cracking up.
Here is a very nice take on Riesling, gleaned from high-density vines. It captures the density and grip of the bone-dry Australian Rieslings, with the added concentration of Northwest fruit. An extra bonus—it’s just one percent residual sugar and 12.5% alcohol; a beautiful proportion that feels dry, carries some light honeyed sweetness in the finish and does not…
Argyle’s Extended Tirage benefits from all the extra bottle age. It’s far and away the smoothest and toastiest of the winery’s current sparkling wine releases, lavishing toasted hazelnut and toasted coconut flavors along with dried apple, papaya and lemon rind. Complex yet still nicely fruity.
A very Pinot nose of red raspberries, strawberries, saddle leather and spice. Solid core of fruit flavors with earth and mushroom nuances. Not heavy, rather very elegant on the palate, with a long and tasty finish.
