Dense and beefy at first, then menthol, licorice, blackberry and earth aromas come out on the nose. The palate is deep and well structured, with toasty, dark flavors of chocolate mint along with leathery berry. Finishes with coffee and peppery flavors. Serious and satisfying; 60% Malbec and 40% Cab Sauvignon.

This Malbec-Cabernet blend hits the spot aromatically, delivering rock-solid black fruit and toasty oak scents. It feels rich, with chewy tannins and rooty-tasting berry and chocolate flavors. Smooth and easygoing, perhaps a touch soft on the finish. Drink now–2014.

Interesting Malbec with character and individuality. The nose is savory and smoky, with spice and floral aromas. Full and ripe in the mouth, where roasted black fruit, clove, spice and cola all make a showing. Textured and sizable late, with a coffee note to the finish. Drink now through 2011.

Gets going with a lot of barrel and leather, but maybe not as much fruit as one might hope for. Makes its point with a round, creamy mouthfeel that supports jammy plum and blackberry flavors. A very good Malbec that will be better once the vines age.

Round on the bouquet, with prune, toast and nothing disturbing or out of place. Feels good, deep and healthy, with dark, toasted, black fruit flavors leading to a mildly oaky, slightly minty finish. Ripe, fresh and balanced overall.

Also called Classico, this prestige blend of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon hits like a hammer on the nose and then flows into a semi syrupy palate that offers ripeness but not as much harmony as the winery's more modest Malma. Maybe it's the Merlot and Cab, but the wine seems a bit short and solitary given its high aspirations.
