A lot of oak has been piled onto this wine and it doesn’t seem to be sinking in. The nose is awkward and the palate delivers nothing more than candied cherry. A very simple specimen that’s not too bad but offers almost nothing in the way of complexity or character.  — M.S.  (5/1/2007)
