Blackberry and raspberry aromas suggest that the fruit to follow will be pleasing; mouthfeel is round and juicy, almost big. But there’s a heavy dose of char here that buries the palate’s plum fruit. The same juicy fruit peeks out from under the char on the finish. —D.M.

Between this Tempranillo’s dry tannins and herbaceous flavors, your tongue just may go numb. Still, there are nice, dark flavors underneath it all—black fruit, mocha, maybe even some chocolate. Finishes with oak and herb accents. —D.M.
