Bokisch 2010 Tempranillo (Lodi)

  1. $21
Bokisch has made a Tempranillo- that’s relatively light in body, bursting with an earthy tobacco tone, with a backbone of leather. The palate feels velvety, with soft but structured tannins, bearing black cherry and dark chocolate flavors. This has to be one of California’s best Tempranillos.  — V.B.  (2/1/2013)

Bokisch 2008 Las Cerezas Vineyard Graciano (Mokelumne River)

  1. $21
Fruity, dusty and soft, a dark cherry and plum Graciano grown and made in Lodi with great depth, balance and earthiness. The grape is native to Rioja where it is usually blended with Tempranillo, but does deliciously here on its own. From Lodi Rules Certified Green grapes.  — V.B.  (3/1/2012)

Bokisch 2008 Tempranillo (Lodi)

  1. $21
Bright and earthy, dense and dark, this New World Tempranillo has an Old World soul, with dark cherry and strawberry going on as well as a touch of cocoa and tobacco. Its acidity adds a spark on the finish; this Ribera del Douro native grape seems plenty happy in the middle of California, at least in Bokisch’s hands.  — V.B.  (3/1/2012)

Bokisch 2008 Belle Colline Vineyard Monastrell (Clements Hills)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $21
Also known as Mourvèdre. This Spanish-inspired Monastrell from Bokisch, grown on a hillside, is brawny with plenty of earth and bacon bite to it, yet also floral, rich yet also bright, tasting of black cherry and pomegranate with a menthol tobacco chaser.  — V.B.  (3/1/2012)

Bokisch 2010 Belle Colline Vineyard Monastrell (Clements Hills)

  1. $21
Bokisch’s 100% Monastrell is brooding with dark fruit—black cherries, currants and blackberries. It shows a cinnamon-swirled earth note and a layer of herb, with medium body. As such, it would be a beautiful wine with roasted meats like lamb or chicken that are swaddled in herbs or anise. The tannins are soft but structured enough to age.  — V.B.  (2/1/2013)

Bokisch 2010 Terra Alta Vineyard Garnacha (Clements Hills)

  1. $18
This has 10% Monastrell in the mix, and it is a sublime example of what flavors of baked raspberry compote, cranberry and black licorice can do when allowed to mingle together in liquid form. Medium in body, this has a lot of earthiness. It would make a fine alternative to more expensive Pinots.  — V.B.  (2/1/2013)

Bokisch 2010 Graciano (Lodi)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $21
Thick in dark, meaty fruit flavor, this 100% Graciano is strong in savory elements, tasting of baked plum and tobacco, with a smoky, spicy undercurrent. The tannins have softened it into a rich, smooth wine that’s ready to drink now, aromatically recalling ripe figs. Pair with meat-and-cheese tapas or a brothy stew.  — V.B.  (2/1/2013)

Bokisch 2004 Albariño (Lodi)

  1. $16
Like a good, unoaked Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is very dry and high in acids, with citrus, apricot and mineral flavors that make you think of oysters. It’s a very good wine, and showcases the enormous possibilities of this variety in California.  — S.H.  (12/31/2005)
