This is a big, vital Cabernet, rich in fruit and sweetly smoked oak, and the tannins are classic Napa Valley, softly complex and ripe. Really strikes you for the delicious flavors of blackberries, cherries, currants, licorice, mocha and dried herbs. Now–2013.

This is an amazingly rich Cabernet, packed with classic Napa blackberry, blueberry and dark chocolate flavors. It’s opulent even by California standards, and is a little sweet. With firm, pronounced tannins, it’s gritty in texture. Defines Napa ripeness, but at this point it’s rude and jammy. Give it a good six years. Could be one for the long haul.

This is a classy Chardonnay. Grown 1,200 feet above Calistoga and fairly well-oaked in new barrels, it’s rich and complex, with flavors of grilled tropical fruits and toasted meringue. The structure is greatly improved by a crisp, minerally edge of acidity.

This is a very rich, and perhaps ageable, Cabernet Sauvignon, made with one-fifth Cabernet Franc. Grown from Calistoga grapes, it’s soft enough to drink now, with chocolaty flavors of blackberries, cherries, currants and mint. Lots of new oak adds caramel and smoky vanilla, but the wine is powerful enough to handle them. Give it through 2010 to integrate.

This is one of the drier, steelier Chardonnays on the market. It shows flavors of Meyer lemons, limes and tart white peaches, with a tantalizing acidity that makes the mouth water. Trades opulence for elegance, a nice wine for roasted salmon and sweet summer corn.

Made from Yountville grapes and mainly stainless-steel fermented, with a little oak influence, this is quite a good wine. It’s savory and refreshingly dry, with delicious flavors of citrus fruits, figs, peaches, honeydew melons, green apples and vanilla.

Bone dry and tartly crisp in acidity, this wine’s lemongrass and grapefruit flavors are showing their age. It’s just beginning to break up. Pretty good, but drink this year.
