Cape Barren 2007 Blewitt Springs Vineyard Reserve Release Old Vine Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $39
From 70-year-old vines, this medium-bodied wine starts off with aromas of red currants tinged with cinnamon and herbs, then shows a darker side on the palate, ranging into flavors of coffee, plum and boysenberry. It’s creamy in texture, finshing with dusty persistence. Drink 2014-2020.  — J.C.  (2/1/2010)

Cape Barren 2007 Native Goose G-S-M (McLaren Vale)

  1. $26
This blend of 45% Grenache, 43% Shiraz and 12% Mourvèdre has an enchanting, exotic quality. There’s a lovely interplay on the nose between high-toned cranberry and strawberry fruit that contrast nicely with lower tones of cigar tobacco and black earth. Finishes with dried fruit, seared game and ash tones. Drink now or hold several years for even more complexity.  — W.E.  (6/1/2010)

Cape Barren 2007 Native Goose Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $29
This medium-bodied wine leans strongly toward the red side of the fruit spectrum, offering aromas and flavors that range from red currants and raspberries to a hint of rhubarb and a touch of cinnamon. It could be a bit longer on the finish, but it’s a solid effort overall.  — J.C.  (2/1/2010)
