Cascina Adelaide’s wines always stand out in a crowd thanks to the spicy oak elements this vintner proudly displays. Barolo Preda follows suit and opens with sweet clove and cinnamon backed by red cherry, cassis and prune. It’s a luscious, soft and textured wine that can be consumed soon (in 3–5 years) or aged longer in your cellar.

This bold wine is dark in color and concentration and offers layers of ripe cherry, blackberry and loads of mineral tones such as graphite and black slate. It’s one of the darkest Barolos of the vintage and it ends with thick, drying tannins and crisp acidity. Let it age five years and drink with braised lamb chops.

With a modern winery located at the foot of the picturesque town of Barolo, Cascina Adelaide proudly produces a bold and innovative interpretation of Barolo. This is a powerful and generous wine with big spice, berry, smoke and mineral tones. The cards it plays best, however, are intensity and persistency.

Cascina Adelaide always stands out in a crowd of Barolos thanks to the overall intensity of its Nebbiolo characteristics. Thanks to careful winemaking techniques, Preda takes that extra step: the fruit is brighter here and the spice notes are noticeably more piquant. You’ll also taste fine mineral notes, violets and green olive.

From a sleek, high-tech winery nestled under the town of Barolo and a few hundred yards from the Cannubi cru, this is a full, modern wine with wide appeal. Its opulence and richness are irresistible and so are the lingering notes of black fruit and cured meat. It has big, tart tannins and fresh acidity and needs more time. Drink after 2012.

Preda is a solid and dense expression of Barolo with oak-related notes of vanilla and spice that need a few more years to integrate fully. The quality of the fruit is evident and with 10 more years of cellar aging all those elegant Nebbiolo aromas of licorice and white truffle should shine through.

Cascina Adelaide consistently offers a modern (ie: plump, ripe, dense) taste profile on its important wines. Even this expression from the Cannubi cru, a vineyard noted for the elegant and ethereal nature of its wines, delivers a bolder, bigger style. Aromas include roasted espresso bean, blackberry and polished black stone.
