Castello di Brolio 1998 Sangiovese (Chianti Classico)

  1. $50
Muscular and a bit raw in the nose; this is ripe Chianti, with a full dose of bursting berry fruit and an added element of earthy terroir. Firm tannins provide structure, and the cherry-berry flavor rides strong on the finish. —M.S.  — M.S.  (12/31/2002)

Castello di Brolio 1997 Sangiovese (Chianti Classico)

  1. $17
Medium in weight but big on flavor, this is strong and stylish juice with plenty of plum, dark cherry, licorice and toasty oak on the nose and in the mouth. Dusty tannins and ripe cherry fruit on the long finish close it nicely. Big and relatively unevolved; best held for two to four years.  — W.E.  (4/1/2001)

Castello di Brolio 1999 Sangiovese (Chianti Classico)

  1. $16
This is rock-solid Chianti. Sharp, piercing aromas of cherry and red currant open the show, while intense red-raspberry flavors make for a tantalizing wine that drives at full speed across the palate. A solid body and several layers of textures and flavors on the finish seal the deal. —M.S.  — M.S.  (12/31/2002)
