Castiglion del Bosco 2006 Campo del Drago Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)

  1. $75
Campo del Drago Brunello boasts a soft, modern style with creamy chocolate and opulent cherry overtones. The wine is almost ready to drink (try it after 2014) but would also make a promising candidate for more years of cellar aging.  — M.L.  (4/1/2011)

Castiglion del Bosco 2001 Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)

  1. $45
Engineered as modern Brunello and deliciously successful as such. Owned by the Ferragamo family. This is a wild card, new winery with little in the way of a track record and a lot to prove. But you can count on it becoming a pivotal force in a few years. Full, rich, ripe, dense and fruit-forward with feathery softness in the mouth. Imported by William Grant & Sons, Inc.  — W.E.  (4/1/2006)

Castiglion del Bosco 2000 Campo del Drago Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)

  1. $75
Intense, rich, full-bodied: this wine has all the makings of Big Brunello with two capital Bs. Chewy fruit, incense-like sassiness, and an extra smooth ride over a panoramic finish. Nothing is out of place and no one element overpowers the others. Drink 2010–2020. Imported by William Grant & Sons, Inc.  — W.E.  (4/1/2006)

Castiglion del Bosco 2005 Campo del Drago Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)

Here is a sweet, plump and succulent Brunello with bright notes of cherry, blackberry, spice, leather and a touch of dark chocolate. The wine is extra soft and smooth in the mouth and those bright cherry flavors last a long time on the finish. The tannins are polished and dry. Drink after 2014.  — M.L.  (8/1/2010)
