Cecchi’s Coevo is a wonderful super Tuscan blend that costs half as much as the other cult wines in this elite category. The wine is rich, opulent, intense and extremely focused in terms of its aromatic delivery and the mouthfeel is long, textured and rich.

This first vintage of Coevo (a super Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) represents a new and dynamic project for Tuscany’s historic Cecchi estate. The wine is rich, opulent and redolent of all kinds of dark fruit and spice.

This Riserva opens with a spectacular ruby color, thick density and succulent notes of red cherry and bursting fruit. There’s chocolate, cola and spice in there as well to give it dimension and staying power. This Chianti Classico is a blend of Sangiovese with 10% other grapes.

Very pretty on the nose, with warm plum, vanilla and mint aromas. The palate is hearty and lively, arguably a bit acidic, but still very nice. Look for flavors of cherry, red plum and light, balanced oak. The mouthfeel is good and the finish is smooth. Overall it’s a winner.

Big and boisterous, with cola, root beer and raisin on the nose. The palate offers a ton of ripeness and hefty fruit, particularly cherry, plum and currant. Finishes toasty, maybe slightly burnt, with some cookie-dough sweetness. Mildly tannic in the long run.

Dark in color with thick concentration, this “family” Riserva offers loads of spice lavished over fresh cherry, red fruit and plum. In the mouth, the wine feels thick, chewy and well concentrated with ripe cherry flavors that ride over the long finish.

Dark fruit and menthol toast aromas set the tone, and the wine follows through in new-wave, deeply toasted style. Plum and cherry flavors, medium weight. Closes with a tart, tangy finish offering dark chocolate notes. Hold for two or three years.
