Chalice Bridge 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Margaret River)

  1. $20
The bouquet is sharp and muscular, with ample leather and spice. The flavors veer toward spicy and tangy red fruit, with undertones of cinnamon and chocolate. Vanilla and Asian spices dominate the warm finish. This wine emphasizes nuance and spice over bold, lush fruit, and therefore should work well at the table.  — M.S.  (12/15/2002)

Chalice Bridge 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz (Margaret River)

  1. $16
Taut and twangy, this 65-35 Shiraz-Cab blend has black pepper in abundance, nose to finish, plus gumtree and black cherry flavors. Would have merited an even higher score had the alcohol (listed on the label at a modest 14%) not felt so evident. Imported by Low Country Imports.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Chalice Bridge 2001 Chardonnay

  1. $16
Light in weight and subtle in flavor, this Chard is a welcome change from some of its mega-mallowy Oz compatriots. There are citrus and peach flavors on the palate and floral, yellow fruit aromas; it starts to get toasty with aeration.  — D.T.  (8/1/2003)

Slightly reductive. Aromas are of butterscotch and sulphur, and flavors are awash in butterscotch hard candy and toast.  — D.T.  (10/1/2005)
