90-92 Barrel sample. Large-scale renovations to the vineyard and the advice of Patrick Valette as consultant have paid great dividends at this ancient vineyard. The wine is ripely opulent but balanced, with new wood that supports rather than dominates, and a structure that promises long aging.

90—92 Barrel sample. Very modern, polished in style, a wine whose new wood doesn’t mask the rich fruit. The tannins are more to do with wood than fruit. This will be delicious.

90–92. Barrel sample. Powerful and fruity, this finely situated chateau on the edge of the slopes of Saint-Émilion has produced a brightly fruity wine typical of the year. It’s a wine that’s ripe with berries, soft tannins and great juiciness.

89-91. Barrel sample. The tannins are tough, although the fruit character is juicy in this wine. This makes for a well-structured, solid expression, with intense and crisp acidity at the end.

88-90 The wine seems to have over-ripe fruit, giving it an unbalanced feel. It does have weight, the tannins offering some structure, while it's the acidity that really gives the wine shape.

Shows a fair amount of toasty, vanilla-scented oak, but its well balanced by cassis and tobacco notes. Medium-to-full-bodied, with a supple mouthfeel and dusty earth and tobacco flavors. Ripe cherry fruit comes through on the finish, suggesting that better things may emerge in another couple of years.
