A ripe, juicy and forward wine, this is all fruit—but it’s delicious fruit. The tannins are restrained behind the exuberant fruitiness. It may not be classic Bordeaux, but it is likely to be very drinkable in 2–3 years.
The problem with this special cuvée from Mongravey is wood. There is too much of it, and it completely dominates the high-extract fruit. There is toast, oak and more toast. The fruit seems too light to cope.
