92-94 Barrel sample. Spice and ripe fruits are the main characters of this wine, which shows the results of the considerable investment that has gone into this estate. Impressive and modern in style, but still keeping its harmony.

92-94 Barrel sample. A shiny, ripe and fresh wine, its tannins neatly merged into the blackcurrant fruits. Delicious and fresh, but also sweet.

92-94. Barrel sample. Firm and complex, it shows both ripe fruit and weighty tannins, and is still very closed and tight. This is a powerful expression of the vintage—a wine that should age well.

The former home of Alexis Lichine is now owned by a Pacific-based French mining company. The low yields of the 2010 (the vineyard was hit by hail) have produced a smooth and rich style of wine, which is weighty while also showing fine acidity on the finish. This has definite aging potential.

91–93 The wine is packed with wood, but there is also firm, solid dense fruit, which pushes it to a higher level. There is great structure here.

91-93 Densely tannic, although with the fruit weight to sustain the wine. It is packed with ripe flavors, very berry, very firm, finishing with juiciness.

Under new ownership, Prieuré-Lichine continues its rapid quality improvement. The wine is concentrated, with dark tannins and brooding fruit, dominated by new wood. It is rich, but also structured for a steady development over 10-15 years.

Alexis Lichine’s old château has been revolutionized in the last decade, producing wines with a diamond-like luster, polished with new wood, squeezed black currant juice fruit flavors and ripe tannins. A shiny, gleaming wine.
