Château Rauzan-Ségla 2005 Red (Margaux)

A wine with a beautiful mouthfeel and shape. This is rich, gleaming in the ripe black fruits, the touch of spice and mint, as well as the sweet blackberry flavors. The acidity is balanced, showing off the fruit. There is weight and density as well.  — R.V.  (6/1/2008)

95-97 Hugely powerful wine, very concentrated and dense. It has a generous structure that dominates the ripe berry fruits. This is going to be a wine for the long haul  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2010 Red (Margaux)

One of the top Margaux wines, this is in top form, finely balanced and as elegant as it is powerful. It is darkly structured, dense yet balancing tannins with ripe black plums. It expresses the complexity of the vintage. A wine for serious, long-term aging.  — R.V.  (2/1/2013)

94-96 Barrel sample. Big tannins here, very dry, but the fruit seems rich enough to support it. It is finely structured, very dense, made for the long haul.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

A rich and opulent wine, very ripe, packed with luscious blackberry and damson fruit as well as sweet tannins. It is a fruit salad of fruit flavors given structure by a core of dryness. Already a gorgeous wine, but one that will also age.  — R.V.  (2/1/2012)

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2000 Red (Margaux)

  1. $80
At first taste, this wine seems more new world than Bordeaux. But then the subtle, perfumed aromas and structured fruit show through, along with the clean acidity and black tannic fruits. Give this wine at least 12 years before opening.  — R.V.  (6/1/2003)

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2001 Red (Margaux)

  1. $57
A huge, powerful, dense wine, which layers pure black fruits over dusty tannins. This is an impressive wine, proof of Rauzan-Ségla’s improvements since Chanel took over ownership. It is packed with fruits, like an intense jelly, but also has dryness, acidity and good aging potential.  — R.V.  (6/1/2005)

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2003 Red (Margaux)

This is a great wine. The winemaking team, headed by chateau director John Kolasa, has taken advantage of the heat of 2003 and the fact that Rauzan-Ségla has a great vineyard. They have crafted a densely tannic wine that, at its heart, retains a cool elegance. There is great fruit, blackcurrants, and acidity which adds to the sense of poise with power.
