Fairly pronounced nose of spicy, bramble fruit, leather, coffee, mocha and fine herbs. Extracted, full-bodied, tannic with complex flavors of baked forest fruits, sweet spice, clove and savory gamy notes. Harmonious, long and spicy. One panel member disliked a noted barnyard aroma.

Deep and pretty, with pronounced bacon, violet, earth and black-fruit aromas. The palate is stylish and refined, a clear cut above the average Rhône red. In terms of flavor, there’s ample cherry, plum and chocolate. The finish eases off some, as it turns easy and slightly one-dimensional. But with such a great bouquet, tannic structure and richness, the complaints…

Scents of buttered popcorn lead the way, followed by waves of oak-derived flavors: cedar, vanilla and chocolate, backed up by some black cherry notes. The mouthfeel is supple and creamy, the finish moderately tannic. Drink this lavishly oaked wine from 2007-2015, once the wood has integrated a little better with its fruit substrate.
