Baked, earthy, minerally berry fruit aromas suggest lead pencil, roasted plum, cassis and raspberry. The palate is lush, pure and balanced, with classic Priorat flavors of mineral-tinged blackberry and plum. Chunky and smooth on the finish, with broad, soft tannins. There’s no bite or harshness at all; drink now through 2014.

Pretty on the nose and floral. The color is burnished gold, conveying richness and ripeness. Very creamy and sweet tasting, reflective of the 85% Viognier at the wine’s core. Transitions from plump melon and peach flavors to vanilla and spice on the finish. Excellent body and acidity make for a deep wine. Contains 15% white Grenache and Chenin Blanc.

A little raisiny and obscure, but with air it turns into a lovely lump of darkness. In the mouth, there’s jumpy spice, heat and jammy berry and plum flavors. This wine is less about elegance and ageability and more about pure, ripe and flavorful dark fruit. Drink now through 2013. Opens with roasted, rubbery aromas that transition to meaty and leathery. Full-bodied in every way, with warmth, sweetness and lots of chocolate, brown sugar and cola vying with very ripe black fruit flavors. Finishes sweet and rich, with power.

Takes time to unfold after an early blast of saucy spice, hoisin, chili powder and black fruit. The palate is forward and charged, with deep raspberry, cherry and sizzle. Typical of Priorat, there’s a gritty ruggedness to the mouthfeel and heat on the finish, but it’s by no means rocky. Best through 2011. A Europvin, Christopher Cannan selection, imported by…

A lot of leather and rubber join jammy red-fruit scents on the bouquet. The palate is loaded with zesty, fairly lean raspberry and plum flavors, while the finish sports vanilla, spice and tannin. A bit harsh and acid-driven, but still a good wine from a less-than-ideal year. Imported by Europvin/Michael Skurnick Wines.
