Cottonwood Canyon 2000 Blanc de Blanc Sparkling (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $48
Expensive, yes, but aims high and largely succeeds in finesse and elegance. Drinks long, smooth and rich, with layers of citrus, vanilla, lees, toasted coconut and smoky wood that finish complex. This is the first sparkling wine from this winery I’ve tasted, and it’s a quite impressive.  — S.H.  (12/31/2006)

Cottonwood Canyon 2001 Blanc de Noir Sparkling (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $48
This is one of the reddest BdNs I’ve ever seen, and the wine is correspondingly full-bodied and varietally rich. It shows frank strawberry and raspberry flavors, yet maintains a dry elegance and even a light silkiness. Should be fabulous with Ahi tuna, especially tartare.  — S.H.  (12/31/2006)

Cottonwood Canyon 2000 Sharon's Vineyard Barrel Select Pinot Noir (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $64
A very concentrated wine. It’s bursting with cherries, blackberries, root beer and chocolate, flavors that feel sweet on the palate, although the wine is bone dry. Hard to criticize, except that it’s all on the surface, and at this price, you expect a little more depth.  — S.H.  (8/1/2004)

Cottonwood Canyon 2001 Chardonnay (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $24
Lots of oak on this dry wine, which is clean despite its age. Crisp acidity frames tropical fruit flavors, wrapped into a creamy texture. Drink now.  — S.H.  (7/1/2007)

Cottonwood Canyon 2000 Bistro Classic Chardonnay (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $20
A robust blend of toasty oak, melon, citrus and spice flavors. Tangy and bright, but quite fruity, too.  — J.M.  (12/15/2002)

Cottonwood Canyon NV Bistro Classic Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County)

  1. $19
Tasted alongside the winery’s more expensive vintage bottlings, this one’s so close, you can hardly tell the difference. It’s very dry and oaky, with a bracing minerality to the kumquat and pineapple flavors.  — S.H.  (7/1/2007)

Cottonwood Canyon 2001 Barrel Select Chardonnay (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $39
Oaky and leesy, this is a pretty good Chardonnay whose main attributes are dryness and acidity. Toast and smoke dominate the tropical fruit flavors.  — S.H.  (7/1/2007)

Cottonwood Canyon 2001 Syroir Red

  1. $38
This Syrah-Pinot Noir blend shows elements of both. It’s interesting, a work in progress, with the silky, light body and cherry-cola flavors of a coastal Pinot, and a grippy edge of tannin. Good structure, with some complexity. Drink now.  — S.H.  (7/1/2007)
