This reserve wine is a selection of blocks from the two estate vineyards. With extra concentration and intensity, this leads with tart, juicy red fruit flavors that expand into softer, rounder, almost creamy caramel tones.

Cougar Crest prefers to give their wines a bit more bottle age than many producers Here is the pay-off— this recently released estate Syrah has softened up its tannins, and shows pleasing spice, tart cranberry and pretty cherry fruit.

This tasty rosé is a creative blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Viognier. They complement each other well, making a round, full-bodied wine that is not heavy, with fresh fruit flavors.

Dark, deep, extracted to the point of being liqueur-like, with oily, sweet, alcoholic flavors. Plenty of very ripe fruit; not too much oak. This is a style that has its fans, but it’s not a food wine, not an aging wine, not a varietal wine. For the aficionados.

Big wine, big fruit, and really big oak. This is very young and showing a lot of power; it sort of bludgeons you with flavor, but the style has its fans.

Very toasty new oak overrides the fruit scents; in the mouth the flavors are light strawberry and rhubarb, with some surprising sweetness and a soft, approachable finish. Strikes this taster as too much oak for the light fruit.
