Smells super-oaky, with charcoal and smoke aromas dominating the underlying fruit. Those flavors are pretty thin, suggesting peaches and apples. Extremely dry and tart, with hefty acids, but it’s clean and refreshing. —S.H.

Rough going here. Opens with earth, cardboard and Port-like blackberry aromas, and turns tannic and tart in the mouth. Might soften with age.—S.H.
