There’s a very attractive fullness and roundness to this wine that wins over your senses the moment you lift the glass to your nose. The wine delivers aromas of black cherry, Asian spice, root beer, vanilla and sweet maple syrup that are distinct and pristine. Dievole 1999 Broccato Sangiovese (Toscana)

A little bit flat on the bouquet, with prune, graham cracker and tobacco aromas. Flavors of plum and black cherry are fine, but there’s more acid and tannin than flesh. Solid but not spectacular; there’s a bit too much displaced tannin to rate at the next level up.
