Entirely attractive and smooth. The nose offers appropriate milk chocolate, crushed berry and jam-like aromas, while the palate is ripe, fruity and balanced. Good on the palate, with sweet but dark finishing notes. A winner in its price range. Imported by North American Beverage Group, LLC.

Briary berry aromas have a modest but welcome rooty, medicinal accent, while the palate is aggressive, ripe and offers the right framework for sweet berry and plum flavors. Pure and clean on the finish, with mocha and root beer notes. High-quality Malbec.

Very nice Malbec for the money. The bouquet is floral and bright, with a hint of dry oak and mocha. The feel is full and well balanced, while the palate has a bright and lively personality with cherry, raspberry, chocolate and spice flavors. Smooth, tastes good and offers plenty of value.

Dark and heavily oaked on first blush, but give it time to unwind or let it sit in the bottle for a year or two and this will satisfy any Malbec lover. Early on, it’s dense and full of shoe polish, mint and coconut; later it spreads out to show sweet dark-berry flavors and finally a rich, almost sticky finish of woodspice, brown sugar and lushness.

Exotic aromas of wild berries, cumin and other Middle Eastern spices are interesting and inviting. This feels thick and chewy, bordering on syrupy, with stewed plum and brown sugar flavors. It hits with some burn and heat on the bullish finish.

The nose on this 50-50 blend is piercing, with dark cherry, black plum and mild herbal aromas running the show. The mouthfeel is focused and fresh, and the flavors of cherry, raspberry, plum and chocolate soften and spread out on the finish as oaky vanilla and herbal echoes take over.

Alive and spicy, with a lot of oak but also some pretty good fruit in support. Tastes of cherry and cassis, with good acid-to-tannin balance. Some herbal, leafy notes on the finish conjure memories of cru bourgeois Bordeaux. Shows some complexity and style for a $12 Cab. Imported by North American Beverage Group, LLC.

This is Bousquet’s better 2006 Malbec because it doesn’t have the heavy-handed oak of the Reserva. Here you get a ton of ripe, clean fruit with secondary leather and earth aromas. The palate is lively as it hits with firm blackberry and plum flavors. Not complex but good in its simplicity. Imported by North American Beverage Group.
