It’s difficult to find inexpensive Austrian wines in the United States; importers (somewhat justifiably) seem to think that the demand for Austrian wines is further up-market. So it was refreshing to find this lithesome gem. It’s light and fresh, with a rainwater-mineral aspect to it and a dollop of Grüner character. Fine for a springtime picnic, or as an apéritif.

An easy-drinking GV with the emphasis on grapefruit and white peach flavors accented by peppery spice and minerals. It’s light, clean and crisp, but finishes short. —J.C.
