Gary Eberle is known as one of the pioneers of the Paso Robles wine region. Before founding the Eberle Winery in 1983, he headed up his family’s Estrella River Winery and in 1980 he cofounded the Paso Robles Appellation. The first release of Eberle Vineyards was his 1979 Cabernet Sauvignon according to our Eberle wine reviews. While Cabernet Sauvignon is still used to produce the top tier Eberle wines, the vineyards are also planted with Chardonnay, Viognier, Muscat Cannelli, Zinfandel, Shiraz, as well as various Italian, Spanish and Rhone grape varieties. In 1992, Gary was seeking additional space for the red wine program and created a 17,000 square foot underground cave below the winery in order to age all of the reds properly. Today, Eberle Winery produces over 25,000 cases a year and has become quite the tourist attraction in the Paso Robles AVA. Our Eberle wine ratings below offer further detail and insight on the portfolio of Eberle wines.
