From a winery specializing in this rare Bordeaux variety, comes this sexy wine, rich and full-bodied. It spreads over the palate like velvet, spreading massive flavors of sweet cherry and chocolate. The tannins are soft and fully resolved.

Only 182 cases were produced of this spectacularly ripe, juicy Merlot, which floods the palate with enormous flavors of blackberries, cherries, chocolate fudge, caramel and vanilla. The soft tannins are a wonder, the smoky oak perfectly applied.

A gorgeous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The latter grape contributes lush, gooey black-cherry notes, while the Cab contributes familiar blackcurrant and cassis flavors. The result is a complex wine further accented with the smoke, wood spice and vanilla of fine oak barrels.

Lots to admire in this fancy Napa Cab, with its focused currant and cassis flavors, elaborate but balanced overlay of toasty oak and sweet, rich tannins. There’s also a scour of acidity that prickles on the finish. Doesn’t overwhelm, but is easily able to stand up to fine cuisine.

Hits all the right notes, with its splendid flavors of blackcurrants, cassis, chocolate, ripe plums, herbs and smoky vanilla. Glides across the palate with the softest imaginable tannins, like butter, but the structure is firm. Close your eyes and enjoy the long finish.

As good as Edgewood’s regular Malbec is, this almost black wine is better. The gooey cherry-pie flavors are riper and sweeter, the tannins are thicker and softer, and the oak is more notable. This is one of those wines whose flavors are so powerful they startle. It’s a killer with babyback ribs.

This terrific Zin impresses for its concentrated flavors and ultrarich tannins. Blackberries, cherries, plums and chocolate cascade in waves across the mouth, wrapped in the prettiest texture. It’s soft and firm at the same time. Drinks as smoothly rich as a good Cab, yet hangs onto Zin’s unique profile.
