The luster on this older wine is beginning to fade. The nose tosses up a hint of syrup, pine needle and tree bark. The palate is filled with cherry and some medicinal, herbal accents. Not bad but something is missing, namely focus and identifiable Syrah-like flavors of fruit and pepper.

Gold in color, with a mute nose that doesn’t offer much in the way of typical SB character. The palate deals apple and pear, and while that’s not usual, neither is the mouthfeel, which is plump and flat.
