Gordon Brothers 2009 Ice Wine Gewürztraminer (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $37
A burnished gold, tilting toward mahogany, this decadently thrilling ice wine is sex in a glass. Immense concentration, with layers of sugar that run from molasses to honey to brown sugar to maple syrup. It’s supported with enough acidity to keep it focused, and the flavors wrap into a finish that is a combination of every crème brûlée you’ve ever enjoyed.  — P.G.  (2/1/2011)

Gordon Brothers 2007 Tempranillo (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $65
This is an amazing first effort for Gordon brothers, from five-year-old vines. Earthy and deep, it’s loaded with coffee grounds, funk, meat and super-rich black fruits. The color is almost black, and after you pass a little dip in the midpalate, the wine powers into an exceptionally long, smoky, roasted coffee finish.  — P.G.  (12/31/2009)

Gordon Brothers 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $23
Supple, complex and nicely layered, the Cabernet fruit really shines through this new release from Gordon Brothers. Cassis and blackberry meld into bitter chocolate, loam, caramel, pepper (from the addition of a little Syrah) and rock, an intriguing flavor stack that keeps your tongue on its toes. Good concentration and structure.  — P.G.  (3/1/2010)

Gordon Brothers 2008 Six Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $50
The name references the clone number for this single-clone Cabernet Sauvignon. Since it is also a single-vineyard estate wine, it captures terroir in a meaningful expression. Still young, sharply defined and tannic, it is showing a lot of barrel flavors, especially clove. The Cabernet fruit is right in line with Gordon Brothers style, capturing the herbal aspects…  — P.G.  (11/1/2010)

Gordon Brothers 2008 Tempranillo (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $65
It’s a shame that there are only 75 cases of this Tempranillo available; it is a compelling wine that suggests a bright future for this grape in the Columbia Valley. The complex mix of earth, bark, cassis and berry, densely concentrated and detailed with chocolate and mocha notes, is flat-out delicious. Tannins are a bit grainy, with a green tea edge.  — P.G.  (12/15/2011)

Gordon Brothers 2004 Tradition Red (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
Perhaps the last Washington wine of the vintage to be released, this is beginning to enter mid-life. For those who want a hint of how well Washington reds can age, this is a perfect introduction. Drinking beautifully at the moment, though definitely ageworthy still, it shows a soft mix of medium-ripe red fruits, chocolate, herb, earth and barrel. The finish is like…  — P.G.  (11/1/2010)
