The price is certainly right for this elegant, stylish blend (58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc) of Red Mountain fruit. All estate grown, the price and production (7,800 cases) belie the commitment to quality. Here is a vivid, racy wine, impeccably balanced and tightly wound. Thirteen months in barrel, of which 20% was new.

This blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot is inky black, with powerful aromas of currants, oak, vanilla, green olives and smoke. The rich, spicy fruit is there, buried deep below Washington tannins that will take a while to melt. But the wait should yield a beautiful, deeply flavorful wine.
