Ideology Cellars 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Oak Knoll)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $39
Although this Cab is too young and tannic to drink now, it’s impressive for its volume and depth, as well as the future possibilities. Shows a huge core of blackberries, currants and cassis, with a mineral tang and near-perfect oak application. Grows more complex and generous as it breathes in the glass. Give it 4–5 years in the cellar to soften and mellow.  — S.H.  (5/1/2011)

Ideology Cellars 2007 Reserve Block Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $68
So sweet and strong in jammy blackberry fruit, this young Cabernet is hardly drinkable now. The vineyard is in the Oak Knoll District, and the wine shows the big tannins and fine acidity of this cooler part of Napa Valley. An obvious cellar candidate, it needs 6–8 years of bottle age to begin to mellow.  — S.H.  (4/1/2012)

Ideology Cellars 2008 Blondie Gone Wild Chardonnay (Oak Knoll)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $32
Clean, zesty and flavorful Chardonnay, with complex notes of pineapples, oranges, Meyer lemon tart, buttered toast and spices. Earns extra points for fine acidity and a bracing minerality.  — S.H.  (4/1/2011)

Ideology Cellars 2009 Blondie Chardonnay (Oak Knoll)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $29
This polished Napa Chardonnay would have benefited from brisker acidity, as it’s somewhat soft. But the orange popsicle, lemon cream and buttered toast flavors are very rich.  — S.H.  (4/1/2011)

Ideology Cellars 2008 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $48
With sweet blackberry, cassis, anise and mocha flavors, this Cabernet is a flashy wine, but you’ll find some overripe, raisiny notes toward the finish. Drink now before it goes downhill.  — S.H.  (5/1/2012)
