Ripe notes of red apple, honeydew, orange blossom and a touch of nuttiness are all augmented by a backdrop of gorgeous assorted wild flowers, adding complexity and liveliness to the bouquet and lush, round palate. Dried apricot drizzled with honey and gingery spice unfold on the close, but balanced acidity keeps the long finish mouthwatering and bright. Drink now–2014.

A stunning and inviting dessert wine that exhibits the superb balance that Chenin Blanc can lend to the style. Honeyed peach and apricot notes abound, with spicy accents of ginger, clove-spiked orange and toast. The mouth is lush and slightly viscous, but the racy acidity provides good cut. This ends with a long, spice-driven finish. Delicious now, but it should…

The 2009 Gypsy, unlike the 2008, includes no Mourvèdre in the blend, meaning it’s just Grenache and Syrah, at about half each. This is a powerful and intense wine, with forward aromas and flavors of cherry, black plum and boysenberry that are spiced with notes of crushed purple florals, black pepper and licorice. With medium-plus tannins, bold flavors, a firm…

The first nosing strongly suggests a square of pure, fresh honeycomb, but it’s closely followed by attractive notes of baking spice, candied orange peel, apple pie and dried apricot. Spicy notes of clove and ginger show real staying power on the finish, while appropriately assertive acidity keeps things fresh in the mouth.

“Petit” in the case of this wine refers to the fact that this is the good-value Chenin from Forrester Vineyards. With its flowery aroma, ripeness, mature fruit, layers of nuts and just a hint of a soft aftertaste, this is a great value wine. Imported by Boutique Wine Collection.

A wine that shows that, with care, it is possible to make a successful wooded Chenin Blanc. This is currently a little closed up, but the wine shows great potential, with its spice, toast, dried fruits and touch of spicy pepper. This would work as a partner to Thai food. Imported by Boutique Wine Collection.

Silky and seductive with notes of raspberry, red cherry, blueberry and earthy forrest aromas. The finish shows a sweet mocha accent through the dominant fruit flavors. Balanced and approachable with well-integrated tannins and a strong finish.

Fleshy fruit tones of cherry, plum, blackberry and raspberry all abound on the nose of this G-S-M blend, alongside secondary hints of black pepper and cured meat. There’s a nice evolution to the medium-weight palate, which starts off with fruity dominance but then transitions to spice, followed by sweet smoke and finally ends of a decadent mocha flavor. It’s firmly…
