The top wine from Ken Wright in 2008, this beautifully elegant wine clocks in at just 13.3% alcohol, yet delivers a mouthful of delicious flavors. A lovely mix of cranberry, pomegranate and wild raspberry is annotated with dusty herb. Excellent midpalate concentration and length.

Ken Wright 2010 Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

A marvelous vintage for Freedom Hill, this high-acid Pinot is loaded with black cherry fruit. Rich, ripe, full, tart and penetrating, it might seem one-dimensional at first, but it has such excellent focus and depth that the fruit simply rocks. The finish weaves in threads of smoke and mocha, but this is a wine to cellar for a couple more years at least.

Along with the Freedom Hill bottling, the Savoya is the wine of the vintage for Ken Wright. A beautifully-crafted mix of brambly berry, thistle and herb, this textural and detailed effort keeps developing added complexity as it rolls across the palate. Blackberry, black cherry, and hints of truffle infuse the complex, deliciously satisfying finish.

It’s herbal, spicy, slightly animal and scented with rosemary. As with so many of these ’05 Ken Wright Pinots, it is beautifully balanced and elegant, and this, more than any other, could pass for premier cru Burgundy.

Ken Wright 2005 Canary Hill Pinot Noir (Eola-Amity Hills)

This is the sort of Pinot that most Oregon vintners would kill for; forward, tart and spicy with scents and flavors of black cherry cola right out front. The tangy red fruit is lifted with light citrus, buttressed with well-modulated tannins, and enhanced with beautiful undertones of moist earth, leaf and spice. Great structure, acidity and persistence.

Ken Wright 2004 Freedom Hill Pinot Noir

The Freedom Hill is the biggest of all the Ken Wright Pinots, except possibly the Shea. Tannic and leathery, this has a distinct streak of coffee grounds running all through it. Gutsy and potentially the longest lived.
