A fine example of a ripe, balanced Paso Robles Bordeaux blend. This Cab-based wine is very dry and quite tannic, with rich blackberry, black currant, herb and cedar flavors. Feels classy and elegant, and could age for a couple years.

A really good red wine that shows how well Paso Robles does with these oddball blends. In this case, it’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Zinfandel. Each variety contributes something and the result is fulfilling. With a fine structure, it shows ripe flavors of cherries, raspberries, cocoa, spices and oak, and is ready to drink now.

A welcome hit of crisp acidity is just what this slightly sweet wine needs. It’s rich and complex in tangerine, apricot, kiwi and honey flavors, with a sweet coat of oak. Drink as an exotic alternative to an oaky Chardonnay.

There’s a bit of a charred taste to this soft Cab, which may come from the barrels. It’s not unpleasant and adds a smokiness to the ripe blackberry, cassis, cherry and chocolate flavors. Blended with Cabernet Franc, it’s a successful interpretation of a Bordeaux-style wine from Paso Robles.

An unusual blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec and Zinfandel, this wine shows the multi-variety approach increasingly taken by Paso vintners, for the sake of complexity. It’s soft and very ripe, with jammy blackberry, cherry and raspberry flavors, finished with milk chocolate, licorice, violets and peppery vanilla.

Fully resolved for drinking now, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Verdot and Zinfandel is soft and delicious. It shows plenty of berries, cherries, currants, chocolate, anise, pepper and dusty Indian spices, and finishes a little sweet in alcohol.

Drily tannic, with an edge of tobacco, herbs and violets, this Syrah-based blend offers rich notes of black cherries, currants, cola and sandalwood. It’s a well-made everyday red.

A successful blend of Roussanne and Viognier that impresses for its complex swirl of fruits and spices, and maintains a clean, healthy balance. The peach, pineapple and honeysuckle flavors are enlivened with very crisp acidity that makes the wine finish clean and savory.
