Latah Creek 2004 Johannisberg Riesling

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
Very classy, and classic, WA Riesling, with just enough residual sugar to offset the zippy acids. Bright, fresh, crisp and clean, with a wash of honeyed sweetness underlying the ripe peaches and apple-flavored juice. Just a delightful bottle of Riesling.  — P.G.  (4/1/2006)

Latah Creek 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $20
Most Washington Cab-Merlots are low-end wines, but in this case it is a true reserve, though not labeled as such. Bordeaux-like structure, tight and herbal and young. I suspect it will age very well, as a recent taste of the winery’s stellar 1991 Reserve demonstrated. Here the tannins are nicely managed; the hint of oak is just right.  — P.G.  (12/31/2003)

Latah Creek 2009 Moscato d'Latah Muscat

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
Aromatic and appealing, this perfectly captures the pretty orange peel and citrus scents of the grape. In the mouth it’s sweet but buoyed by bright acids, the fruit clean and layered, bringing in streaks of cinnamon, honey, vanilla and tea as it rolls into a satisfying finish.  — P.G.  (4/1/2011)

Latah Creek 2002 Chardonnay

  • Best Buy
  1. $11
Winemaker Mike Conway has been using fruit from the same vineyards since 1982, his first vintage. He believes in letting the fruit speak for itself, and it does. This is ripe and delightful, mixing flavors of pineapple and tart tangerine. There’s a finishing hint of spice from gently applied oak, and the finish is crisp and refreshing. 11,000 cases produced.  — P.G.  (12/31/2003)

Latah Creek 2002 Quilomene Hills Vineyard Johannisberg Riesling

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
This is classic, old-style Washington Riesling, showing a puckery sweetness. The off-dry residual sugar (about 2.5%) is perfectly balanced with bright acid. Crisp and inviting, it has a very nice presence and palate feel, and it resonates through the clean finish.  — P.G.  (12/31/2003)

Latah Creek 2004 Muscat Canelli

Lots of spritz and a forward, peachy, fruit-driven set of flavors; almost like a Prosecco but with a bit more concentration and powerful, peachy fruit. Just under four percent residual sugar, yet it retains enough acid to give it some verve, and clocks in at just 10.5% alcohol.  — P.G.  (4/1/2006)

Latah Creek 2008 Pinot Gris

  1. $11
The first-ever Pinot Gris from this pioneering Spokane winery has a crisp entry, with flavors of jicama and celery and hints of Asian pear. It’s light and stylish, a fine apéritif to accompany appetizers or raw oysters.  — P.G.  (4/1/2011)

Latah Creek 2009 Riesling

  1. $9
Juicy and off-dry, this succulent Riesling pushes orange and candied citrus flavors to the front of the bus, with a smooth, sweet but not sugary ride into the lingering finish. A final impression of spun sugar and marshmallow brings a smile.  — P.G.  (4/1/2011)
