Le Cadeau 2003 Pinot Noir

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $40
What a spectacular effort. Dense and precise, it explodes from the glass with pure varietal scents and crisp, layered flavors. The mix of red fruits seamlessly weaves into barrel flavors of coffee, toast, caramel and buttered nuts, then adds licorice and spice to the long, clean, lifted finish. A tour de force.  — P.G.  (9/1/2006)

Le Cadeau 2010 Diversité Pinot Noir

Among an outstanding lineup of well-defined, beautifully refined Pinots from Le Cadeau, the Diversité takes top honors. Sourced from the winery’s vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains, it shows excellent varietal character, with exceptional depth and detail. It beautifully melds the notes of mixed red fruit, light earth, and sensitively-applied barrel.  — P.G.  (12/1/2012)

Le Cadeau 2008 Serendipity Pinot Noir

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $65
Full and rich, this seductive wine, crafted by Tony Rynders, has a little extra in terms of fruit, impact and finishing power. Ripe strawberry, cola, sweet hay, nougat and a penetrating midpalate that is concentrated but not jammy. The finish seems to gather strength, and resonates beautifully for several minutes after you swallow.  — P.G.  (10/1/2010)

Le Cadeau 2009 Côte Est Reserve Pinot Noir

  1. $75
Tasted alongside the winery’s light and elegant 2010 Pinots, this 2009 Reserve boldly stands out. The fleshy, black fruit flavors are bigger and fuller across the palate than those from the later vintage. The finish is streaked with a cola note and will leave you reaching for the bottle as soon as your glass is empty.  — P.G.  (12/1/2012)

Le Cadeau 2006 Cote Est Pinot Noir

  1. $47
The Côte Est Pinot Noir is more structured and less immediately accessible than the winery’s Rocheux bottling, but ultimately may prove to be the better bottle. It offers tightly woven, chewy fruit flavors of black cherry, black raspberry and plum, along with darker streaks of clove, leaf, smoke and earth. As always, the wine is structured with elegant precision.  — P.G.  (10/1/2008)

Le Cadeau 2008 Rocheux Pinot Noir

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $47
The Rocheux bottling comes from a vineyard parcel with especially rocky soil, and there is a heightened minerality along with a racy, well-defined edge to the wine that the French call “nerveux.” It’s a thrill to taste if you race along with it and if you like a more acidic style, with tart raspberry fruit as your companion. The finish brings in leaf and vanilla…  — P.G.  (10/1/2010)

Dark and sappy, this superripe and deeply fruited wine is bursting with concentrated raspberry and cherry flavor. Streaks of citrus and vanilla are threaded through, and young as it is, the wine is already drinking beautifully.  — P.G.  (12/1/2011)
