Left Coast Cellars 2006 Cali’s Cuvée Pinot Noir

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $24
A home run. Given extra bottle age, this is drinking optimally at the moment, with a spicy, brambly nose mixing blackberries, mint and chocolate-covered cherries. There’s a scent of fresh cut wood also, and a mouthful of fruit and barrel flavors that are both nicely integrated and complementary. The long finish lingers into a resonant note of black tea.  — P.G.  (3/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2008 The Orchards Pinot Gris

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $18
This wine immediately wows the palate, bursting into full flavor with an explosion of apple and pear fruit. There’s a light yeastiness as well, just enough to suggest a young, fresh, exuberant wine, and it simply grabs hold of your taste buds and never lets go.  — P.G.  (3/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2008 Left Bank Pinot Blanc

  1. $21
Much like the winery’s Pinot Gris, this estate-grown Pinot Blanc is built around mineral-infused fruit that is immaculately clean and vividly refreshing. Tart and juicy, with Asian pear, green apple, and lemon/lime acidity.  — P.G.  (3/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2009 Pinot Blanc

Quite fruity and refreshing, this fruit-forward Pinot Blanc mixes lemon drop and citrus hard candy fruits in a stylish, well-defined wine. Finishes firm with good grip.  — P.G.  (12/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2005 Latitude 45 Pinot Noir

  1. $34
There is good concentration to the estate-grown fruit, which mixes raspberry, boysenberry and cassis and provides a firm and lasting core of flavor. Some tasters may find the wine slightly reductive, with a burnt rubber quality; for others it will just be toasty and a bit tannic. Give it time to breathe and it opens up into a full-bodied, flavorful Pinot Noir with…  — P.G.  (11/15/2008)

Left Coast Cellars 2008 Right Bank Pinot Noir

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
Right Bank seems a bit geographically challenged as a name for Pinot Noir; the term universally refers to a particular region of Bordeaux, not Burgundy. This brings dark fruits—blackberry and black cherry—along with streaks of earth, smoke and firm tannins.  — P.G.  (12/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2008 Suzanne’s Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $40
A fragrant start brings raspberries and rose petals, along with traces of Dr. Pepper and cinnamon spice. In the mouth the wine fades a bit, not showing the depth that the aromas seem to promise. Good flavors, just a little light.  — P.G.  (12/1/2011)

Left Coast Cellars 2005 Suzanne’s Estate Reserve Pinot Noir

  1. $40
This estate reserve has the aromas of Oregon Pinot, a mix of bramble, berry, sassafras and herb. Although the alcohol is listed at a healthy 14.4%, it does not feel too big; if anything, it seems a bit light for a reserve. Brambly berry fruit flavors give way to leaf and earth; then the wine fades quickly, leaving a slight burn in the back of the throat.  — P.G.  (11/15/2008)
