Lindemans 1998 Bin 9255 Semillon (Hunter Valley)

  1. $16
Lushly aromatic, with scents of cream, vanilla, smoke and toast. Which might lead you to think it’s been aged in oak—but it hasn’t. Grapefruit, peach and cream flavors lead into a mouthwatering, lemony finish. It’s a bit austere on the palate yet; give it a few years in the cellar to round out. Best Buy.  — J.C.  (2/1/2002)

Lindemans 1998 Pyrus Red (Coonawarra)

  1. $27
This mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cab Franc scores points for its deep and lush bouquet, which brings with it a healthy whack of oak that smells a lot like charred hamburger. The flavors veer toward cassis, cherry and plum, almost as the nose indicates. A bright, flashy finish with some raciness is the curtain call.  — M.S.  (12/15/2002)

Lindemans 2000 St. George Cabernet Sauvignon (Coonawarra)

  1. $30
Chalk dust, bubblegum powder and juicy, fleshy berry fruit is a lovely aromatic combination, and the mix expresses itself just as nicely on the palate. The feel is velvety, and the oak noticeable, but still works well in terms of the the big picture. Very nice, and shows the best of what Lindemans can do.  — D.T.  (11/15/2004)

Lindemans 1999 Limestone Ridge Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon (Coonawarra)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $30
Excellent. Has deep, pretty aromas of clay, eraser and ripe red plum. Its plum-fruit core has a crisp minty edge, and the package is all couched in a rich, claylike texture. The wine is well structured and sturdy, its red fruit tightening and retreating through the finish. Needs time; drink 2006+.  — D.T.  (11/15/2004)

Lindemans 1999 Reserve Shiraz (Padthaway)

  1. $15
Jammy, sweet and lush, just as it should be. This wine isone saturated, fruity monster, and while there are bigger, bolder ones out there, this one is still pretty rich. Yet while it offers plenty of Shiraz’s natural chewy, yummy character, it does come up a little short on depth, which is why it falls shy of that elusive higher plateau. Best Buy. —M.S.  — M.S.  (3/1/2003)

Lindemans 1999 Pyrus Red (Coonawarra)

  1. $30
Aromas are dark and stewy right out of the bottle, but unfold to reveal fresh herb and eucalyptus with air. Red fruit on the palate wears dusty, sweet-and-sour tannins, and a hint of the fresh mintiness. Not a huge, dense wine, but a robust one with chewy tannins.  — D.T.  (11/15/2004)

Lindemans 1998 St. George Cabernet Sauvignon (Coonawarra)

  1. $27
Like many other ripe Aussie Cabs, this has a pronounced sweetness to it. In the nose, it’s much like American Zinfandel, as it shows blueberry aromas. The palate is acidic and juicy, while the finish is tighter, with heavy tannins and a touch of leather. This wine has a somewhat hard feel to it, but it’s also very good in terms of power and raw flavor.  — M.S.  (12/15/2002)

Lindemans 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Padthaway)

  1. $15
You get a lot for your money with this one: The earthy, meaty aromas are very promising. The flavor profile, meanwhile, is downright complete, offering a full and wholesome dose of berries and chocolate. The smooth finish fades away in proper time, with touches of bitter chocolate and espresso. It’s big, but not clumsy. And what a nice mouthfeel.  — M.S.  (12/15/2002)
