Solid and spicy right from the start, with a saturated palate of red country-style fruit, pepper and cinnamon. The finish is round and satisfying, offering a healthy but restrained dose of tannins. The acidity is just right, yielding a wine of balance. For the price it has a lot to give. Best Buy. —M.S.

The nose is a bit rustic with its tree bark and rubbery notes, while the mouth is chewy and fruity. More robust red fruit asserts itself on the grainy, drying finish before performing a quiet fade. It’s a bit oaky and tough, but overall it’s also a fairly tasty wine that’s easy to quaff. —M.S.
