Matias Bertona Wines 2008 Inspiratto from the Andes Reserve Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $22
This smells toasty up front, with aromas of tree bark, earth and shoe polish. It runs deep and rich on the tongue, with a syrupy feel and flavors of graham cracker, tobacco, berry pie and herb accents. The finish is good but seems a little hollow, with rooty, herbal flavors that linger.  — M.S.  (10/1/2012)

Matias Bertona Wines 2011 Inspiratto from the Andes Torrontés (Mendoza)

  1. $18
Vanilla cookie and stone fruit aromas set up a creamy, mostly fresh-feeling palate, with flowery papaya and green banana flavors. It’s tropical in style, with complexity and length to the finish.  — M.S.  (10/1/2012)

Hot and spicy on the nose, with red pepper flake and floral red berry aromas. The palate is quite sharp and sheering, with raspberry, red plum and medicinal flavors. Hard and hot on the finish, with tangy acids and prevailing juiciness.  — M.S.  (11/1/2011)
